SuperCup NI is an international youth football tournament held every summer on the North Coast of Northern Ireland. It was conceived in December 1981 when Victor Leonard, Jim Weir and former Northern Ireland international Bertie Peacock met upstairs in a pub in Coleraine, and the first tournament was held in July 1983 under the name 'Northern Ireland Cup'. It was later known as the Milk Cup thanks to dairy industry sponsorship and is now played under the name Budget Energy SuperCupNI. 📅 Schedule The boys' tournament runs from Sunday, July 25 to Friday, July 30, 2027. The girls' tournament also starts on July 25 and ends on Thursday, July 29. · The tournament opens on the first day with a welcome parade and opening ceremony in Coleraine. · Three group-stage matches are played from Monday to Wednesday. · On Thursday, the boys play the semi-finals and the girls play the finals; the boys' finals are on Friday. 📍 Venues Boys' matches are played at fifteen venues across Northern Ireland. Two are 3G artificial grass and the rest are natural grass. Girls' matches are played at four venues in the Antrim and Newtownabbey area, using one 3G pitch and three natural grass pitches. The girls' Junior and Premier finals are held on the 3G pitch at Dixon Park, home of Ballyclare Comrades FC. ✈️ Airport Transfers Teams coming from outside the island of Ireland are met by a tournament guide at the airport terminal or ferry port. This guide acts as the team's guide throughout the tournament. For the boys' tournament, transport to the opening ceremony and to all venues is provided free of charge. ⚽ Divisions The 2027 tournament has three boys' divisions and two girls' divisions. · Boys: Minor (born on or after January 1, 2014), Junior (born on or after January 1, 2013) and Premier (born on or after January 1, 2011). · Girls: Junior (born on or after January 1, 2013) and Premier (born on or after January 1, 2011). Northern Ireland players take part in the Premier and Junior divisions as county representatives, with teams from six counties: Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Londonderry and Tyrone. 🏆 Teams The organizers describe the 2027 tournament as one that brings together top academies and national teams from around the world. The girls' tournament has eight teams in each division, and the organizers state that the 2026 tournament was the largest ever. ⏱ Format In the boys' tournament, teams are drawn into groups of 4 and play three group-stage matches from Monday to Wednesday. · Including the semi-finals on Thursday and finals on Friday, every team is guaranteed at least five matches, with one match per day. · Matches are two halves of 35 minutes each for Premier and Junior, and 30 minutes each for Minor. In the girls' tournament, the eight teams play three matches and then all teams play a final on Thursday, for four matches in total. Both divisions play two halves of 35 minutes each. All matches are streamed live online. 🏟 Organization Boys' teams stay a minimum of 5 nights and girls' teams a minimum of 4 nights, on a full-board basis. Boys' accommodation includes 3-star and 4-star hotels, guesthouses, upper-grade youth hostels and university halls of residence, while girls' teams use local 3-star and 4-star hotels and upper-grade residential accommodation. 🌊 About the Area The North Coast of Northern Ireland, where the tournament is held, is known for its scenery on the island of Ireland. Boys' teams have the opportunity to visit a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Game of Thrones filming locations and local beaches, while girls' teams are offered visits to Lough Neagh and Antrim Castle and Gardens.
How to enter
Entries for SuperCup NI are accepted through the online application forms on the official website, with different deadlines and forms for the boys' and girls' tournaments. 1. Check the division Choose the division that matches the team's birth year: Minor, Junior or Premier for boys, and Junior or Premier for girls. 2. Submit the application form Complete and submit the 2027 boys' or girls' entry form on the official website. The boys' deadline is Monday, November 2, 2026 at 5 p.m., and the girls' deadline is Tuesday, December 1, 2026. 3. Pay the application fee Pay the £200 application fee when submitting the form. Bank details are provided by the organizers. 4. Confirmation and deposit Once participation is confirmed, pay a £2,000 deposit toward accommodation costs. The deadline is March 14, 2027 for boys and March 12, 2027 for girls. Teams that have not paid the deposit are excluded from the group draw. 5. Request a cost estimate Teams coming from outside Northern Ireland can receive a tailored quote by providing the number of players and adults, arrival and departure dates, and arrival and departure points. 6.
