The Malaysia Borneo Football Cup is an international youth football tournament held every autumn in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. It is a Tier 3 tournament sanctioned by the Sabah Football Association and the Football Association of Malaysia, with regular participation from Australian and Southeast Asian teams.

The Malaysia Borneo Football Cup is an international youth football tournament held every autumn in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. First held in 2008, it has continued every year since, with 13 boys' and girls' divisions played one after another over three days each. 📅 Tournament dates In 2026 it runs from September 19 to November 21, split by division. Each team only takes part during the three days of its own division; the period above covers all 13 divisions combined. · Girls U12 Sep 19–21 / U14 Sep 21–23 / U16 Sep 23–25 · Boys U10 Sep 25–27 / U11 Sep 27–29 / U12 Sep 29–Oct 1 / U13 Oct 1–3 · Boys U14 Oct 4–6 / U15 Oct 6–8 / U16 Oct 8–10 / U18 Nov 16–18 · Girls U18 Nov 17–19 / Women's Open Nov 19–21 Adjacent divisions overlap by one day, so teams entering two divisions can combine them into a continuous schedule. 📍 Venues Matches are played at three venues: Likas Stadium, Penampang Stadium and the Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) Stadium, also using the artificial turf pitches at Likas and UMS and the Padang B pitch in Penampang. U10 to U12 play on reduced-size pitches, and U13 and above on full-size pitches. ⚽ Divisions There are 13 divisions in total: eight for boys (U10, U11, U12, U13, U14, U15, U16, U18) and five for girls and women (U12, U14, U16, U18 and the adult Women's Open). Birth-year criteria follow the age in each division name (U10: born 2016 or later, U16: born 2010 or later, U18: born 2008 or later); the Women's Open is for players born in 2009 or earlier. Club teams, select teams, academies and sports school teams can take part. 🏆 Teams Each division has a maximum of 12 teams. In 2025, division titles were won by a national student team from Indonesia, Melawati FC (Malaysia), St George City, Sorrento FC and AAF (Australia), and G8, MFC and Ateneo FC (Philippines). Korea's TY Sports Academy won the boys' U14 division in 2010 and 2011. ⏱ Format U10 plays 9-a-side; U11 and above play 11-a-side. · Each team registers a minimum of 14 and a maximum of 20 players · Matches are two halves of 22 minutes; finals only are two halves of 25 minutes · Every team plays at least 5 matches over the three days 🏟 Organization The tournament is run by Borneo Sports & Adventure Holidays. It is a Tier 3 tournament sanctioned and approved by the Sabah Football Association (SAFA) and the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), both of which are members of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). 🌊 About the area Kota Kinabalu is the capital of Sabah state in northern Borneo, a coastal city on the South China Sea. The venues and the official tournament hotels are all located in the city centre and waterfront area, so travel between them is short.

How to enter

For the Malaysia Borneo Football Cup, the organizers send an information pack and a package price list to interested teams. Teams take part on a local package basis (flights not included), following the steps below. 1. Choose a local package · There are seven packages in total: three Budget packages and three Superior packages for 7–9 days in Kota Kinabalu, and one 11-day, 10-night Combo package covering Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu · Accommodation options are the 5-star Pacific Sutera Hotel and Marriott Hotel, and the 4-star Promenade Hotel and Citadines Hotel; the Kuala Lumpur leg uses the 4-star Parkroyal Suites · Prices and inclusions are confirmed in the package information sent by the organizers 4.
