Details
The Copa Maresme is an international youth football tournament held in Blanes-Tordera in Catalonia, Spain. First held in 1988 and running for nearly 40 years, it is a Whitsun weekend tournament on the coast north of Barcelona. A tournament with the same name run by the German travel company komm-mit.com is a separate event, with a different time of year (Easter) and venues (spread across several towns in the Maresme). 📅 Dates It takes place on 15 and 16 May 2027, over the Whitsun weekend. It begins on Friday afternoon with a welcome and information at the Blanes community sports centre, followed in the evening by a team leaders' briefing with snacks and drinks. Group matches start on Saturday morning, and the opening ceremony is held at Soccerland Catalunya in the afternoon. On Sunday morning there are placement matches and the award ceremony, followed in the afternoon by the UEFA Respect award ceremony. Departure on Monday morning completes the programme. 📍 Venue The tournament takes place at a large sports park on the outskirts of Blanes. The Soccerland park has several artificial turf pitches, changing rooms, parking and first aid facilities, as well as a café-bar with a large shaded terrace. Spectator terraces let supporting families watch matches comfortably. ⚽ Categories There are five categories: U11, U13, U15, U17 and U19. 🏆 Teams The team count shown on the official tournament page is 120 teams. 🏟 Organization The tournament is a joint project of the local club CF Tordera, the local Euro-Sportring team and the Catalan Football Federation, which together are responsible for running it. During the tournament, a multilingual Euro-Sportring desk is set up on site where team leaders can ask for information and make bookings. Euro-Sportring is a non-profit organization that holds international tournaments in 13 European countries, with more than 8,000 teams from over 30 countries taking part each year. 🌊 About the area The Costa Brava and the Costa del Maresme are coastal areas on Spain's Mediterranean side. North of Barcelona, this stretch of coastline has, especially between Calella and Lloret de Mar, fine sandy beaches and long seaside promenades lined with cafés and restaurants. Each town from Lloret de Mar to Santa Susanna and Malgrat de Mar has its own character. Barcelona is also close, with the Sagrada Família, Plaça de Catalunya, La Rambla, the Gothic Quarter, Montjuïc and Park Güell to visit. However, the Spotify Camp Nou stadium is currently under construction, so stadium visits are not possible and only the Barça Museum can be visited.
