Vildbjerg Cup is a youth football tournament held in Vildbjerg, in Herning Municipality in central Denmark. It started in 1979 and reached its 46th edition in 2026; it was not held in 2020 and 2021. The 2027 edition has not yet been officially announced, so the information below is based on the previous, 46th edition (2026). 📅 Schedule · The 2027 dates have not yet been announced; the late-July dates shown are provisional and will be confirmed after the official announcement. · The previous, 46th edition was held over four days, from Thursday, July 30 to Sunday, August 2, 2026. · The tournament has two rounds, a qualifying round and a final round, and team cards must be submitted online by noon on the first day. 📍 Venue · Matches are played on 44 natural grass pitches around the Vildbjerg sports and culture center; about 2,000 matches were played at the previous edition. · The tournament office is at Stadionvej 3, 7480 Vildbjerg and is open throughout the tournament. ⚽ Divisions · The previous edition had 46 groups by age and level. The same age group is split into levels 1 to 3 by ability, and some girls' divisions are split into elite and regular. · Boys 5-a-side — born 2018 (U9) levels 1 and 2, born 2017 (U10) levels 1, 2 and 3 · Boys 8-a-side — born 2016 (U11), 2015 (U12) and 2014 (U13) in levels 1 to 3; born 2013 (U14), 2012 (U15), 2011 (U16) and 2010 (U17) in single groups · Boys 11-a-side — born 2013 (U14), 2012 (U15), 2011 (U16) and 2010 (U17), each in levels 1 and 2 · Girls 5-a-side — born 2018 (U9) and 2017 (U10), levels 1 and 2 · Girls 8-a-side — born 2016 (U11) and 2015 (U12) levels 1 and 2; born 2014 (U13) elite and regular; born 2013 (U14), 2012 (U15), and 2010–2011 (U17+) · Girls 11-a-side — born 2013 (U14) elite and regular; born 2012 (U15) levels 1 and 2; born 2011 elite; born 2010–2011 (U17+) levels 1 and 2 · Each group needs at least 8 registered teams to run; otherwise levels may be merged. 🏆 Teams · The previous edition had 625–650 teams from 10 countries including Germany, the United States and the Netherlands, with about 9,500 players and coaches and about 9,000 accompanying people. · B67 from Nuuk, Greenland, brought 30 players to take part in the U11 group. If more than 700 teams register, online registration may close early. ⏱ Match format · The tournament is held with FIFA approval. · In the qualifying round, groups of 4 or 5 teams play each other, and the top two in each group advance to the final round. The final round is a single-elimination cup, and the other teams go to a B final round in the same format. · Match length is 2 x 12 minutes for 5-a-side, 2 x 15 minutes for 8-a-side (2 x 20 minutes in some elite groups), and 2 x 20 or 2 x 25 minutes for 11-a-side. · Squad size per match is 8 for 5-a-side, 12 for 8-a-side and 16 for 11-a-side, with unlimited substitutions in all matches. 🏟 Organization · The tournament is run by Vildbjerg Cup. · The team registration deadline is May 15, the participant registration and payment deadline is May 22, and additional participants are accepted until July 22. · At the previous edition, team fees were DKK 1,150 for 5-a-side, DKK 1,550 for 8-a-side and DKK 1,950 for 11-a-side; per-person fees were DKK 1,250 for school or sports hall accommodation with 9 meals, DKK 1,125 for the tent village, DKK 975 for the campsite and DKK 625 for the campsite without meals. · The fee includes nine meals from Thursday dinner to Sunday lunch, a participant T-shirt, shuttle buses between accommodation and pitches, and free entry to the sports and culture center's swimming pool. 🌊 About the area During the tournament there are side events such as an outdoor disco on Friday and Saturday, play areas and an activity arena. All pitches are grouped around one sports center, so everything is within walking distance.
How to enter
Teams register for Vildbjerg Cup on the official registration site. The information below is based on the previous, 46th edition (2026). 1. Register the team on the official registration site (tilmeld.vildbjerg-cup.dk). 2. Choose the team's age group and level. Teams must choose a group that matches their actual strength; teams registered incorrectly may be disqualified. 3. The team registration deadline is May 15; registration may close earlier if more than 700 teams sign up. 4. Pay the team registration fee: DKK 1,150 for 5-a-side, DKK 1,550 for 8-a-side and DKK 1,950 for 11-a-side. Registration is complete once payment is confirmed. 5. Register participants and pay the per-person fee online by May 22. Additional participants are accepted until July 22. 6. Choose accommodation: school or sports hall accommodation with 9 meals is DKK 1,250, the tent village DKK 1,125, the campsite DKK 975, and the campsite without meals DKK 625. 7. Campsite pitches are not assigned automatically and must be booked separately in the camping booking system. 8.
