It was created in 2025 by a local company and former Athletic Club and Spain national team player Gaizka Toquero, and is played over three days across eight venues in the city.

The Vitoria-Gasteiz Cup is an international youth football tournament held in Vitoria-Gasteiz, the capital of the province of Álava in the Basque Country, Spain. It was created by Vitoria-born former Athletic Club and Spain national team player Gaizka Toquero together with a local Álava company, and its first edition was held in 2025. The information below is based on the previous edition, for which official information is available. 📅 Tournament dates The 2027 edition is expected at the end of June, but official dates have not yet been announced. Both editions so far have been three-day events, starting on a Friday and ending on a Sunday. · The first edition, in 2025, was held from Friday, June 27 to Sunday, June 29. · The 2026 tournament was held from Friday, June 26 to Sunday, June 28. 📍 Venue The previous edition was played across eight venues in the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz. · Betoño, La Vitoriana, San Martín, Abetxuko, Astrónomos and Olarambe were used on all three days. · Lakua Arriaga was used on the first day and Ariznabarra on the second day. · The finals and award ceremony took place at Betoño. The opening gala was held in Virgen Blanca square. ⚽ Categories The previous edition had four categories. · Mixed Alevín (8-a-side): born 2014 and 2015 · Mixed Infantil (11-a-side): born 2012 and 2013 · Boys' and girls' Cadete (11-a-side): born 2010 and 2011 🏆 Participating teams At the previous edition, 58 teams took part across the four categories, playing more than 140 matches. Each category had 16 teams, except girls' Cadete, which had 10 teams. ⏱ Match format Matches are two halves of 20 minutes for 11-a-side and 15 minutes for 8-a-side, with a 5-minute half-time. · In 16-team categories, teams are split into four groups of 4 and play three matches; the 1st and 2nd in each group go to the Gold round, and the 3rd and 4th to the Silver round. · Girls' Cadete is split into two groups of 5 teams playing four matches; the 1st and 2nd in each group go to the Gold round, and the 3rd and 4th to the Silver round. · Every team is guaranteed at least four matches. · Draws in the knockout stage are decided by a penalty shoot-out with 3 players each, in ABABAB order. · Squads are limited to 22 players for 11-a-side and 14 for 8-a-side, with fixed shirt numbers. · Alevín and Infantil have unlimited substitutions, and substituted players may return. · In boys' and girls' Cadete, substitutions are allowed only until 5 minutes before the end, and substituted players cannot return in the same match. 🏟 Organization Registration includes the following. · A welcome pack, trophies for the winners and runners-up of each category, and awards for best player, best goalkeeper and top scorer · Federation-registered referees and match equipment (balls and bibs) · Medical support and an ambulance on standby at all matches, private accident insurance, and free entry to all matches · Live online results and standings, 24-hour staff and a fan zone 🌊 About the area Vitoria-Gasteiz is the capital of the province of Álava in the Basque Country and the administrative center of Euskadi. How to enter

Registration for the Vitoria-Gasteiz Cup is done online on the official website, and the number of places is limited. The information below is based on the previous edition. 1. Check the categories Choose the category that matches your team's year of birth: mixed Alevín (8-a-side), mixed Infantil (11-a-side), boys' Cadete or girls' Cadete. 2. Choose the participation option First decide whether to take part without accommodation or with an accommodation package. 3. Check the fees Without accommodation, the fee per person is 80 euros for players registered with the Álava Football Federation and 120 euros for other players. For coaches, the first head coach is free; from the second person, registered coaches pay 40 euros and others 60 euros. With accommodation, players pay 325 euros, the first head coach is free, and other staff pay 275 euros. This includes 2 nights in a hotel with full board, return transport between hotel and venues, and fruit, from Friday lunch to Sunday breakfast. An extra night costs 60 euros per person (breakfast included), and an extra meal costs 20 euros per person. For additional bus transport and fruit service, contact the organizers separately. All prices include VAT. 4. Apply online Register on the application page of the official website. Places are limited, and applications are no longer accepted once full. 5. Submit the player list The official player list must be submitted to the organizers by the set deadline; players not on the list cannot play. 6.
